The navara terrano morph
Re: The navara terrano morph
Some new goodies on the way for the truck.
Im quite excited to get this engine finished and in the truck.
I ordered the pistons today so they should be on the way.
The new / old exhaust manifold is on the way.
12mm injector is on the way

Re: The navara terrano morph
12mm nissan boost compensated pump?? Is that another bd30 goodness?
You setting your vv turbo on the bd30manifold? looks like its a good flowing design

Re: The navara terrano morph
yeah the 12mm pump is bd30t stuff.
Im hoping to use that manifold to mount the big turbo. I may end up selling off my other setup and just running the big turbo if I can. Its not bad for a stock manifold huh ?

Re: The navara terrano morph
Nah it looks good setup. Does it hold turbo further away from block (than td27 manifold)? And is flange vertical? Looks titled down a touch?
So you'd just make an adapter between big turbo and manifold to make it work?

Re: The navara terrano morph
Yes I will have to make some sort of adaptor. or mill the face and and put a new plate on.
Here is another pic showing you the manifold and also a td27 manifold.
you can see the difference, one flows and the other one is a td27 manifold

Re: The navara terrano morph
Im working on so many projects for this truck at the moment.
Here is the start of the case for my vnt controller. Since we have a 3d printer I will simply print it out and away we go. I just needed it to hold my arduino board. It looks like nothing at the moment but given time it will be all good.

Re: The navara terrano morph
3d printer eh, cool!
A bit of a diversion but what brand is it and how much was it?

Re: The navara terrano morph
Sorry Im not sure what brand it is. it was only 1900 which I thought was cheap
The first print was a fail and I will have to sort the settings out.
I also painted the alloy rocker cover the bd30 comes with. Im very happy the red wrinkle paint looks awesome
My new pistons also turned up so the rebuild will be starting soon I just have to finish stripping the block.
Here is the new top mount inter-cooler I will be running. I love body lifts it makes a huge difference to the room you have under the bonnet

Re: The navara terrano morph
Getting closer i just had it sitting off the table by a little bit in the software.
Im just getting used to it myself

Re: The navara terrano morph
Well Got the finial part of the puzzle for the engine other than the rebuild stuff
Its the intake manifold
So much better than the stock one by a long way.
Im going to end up with two qd32 intakes which are a great add on to a td27 if anyone is interested.

Re: The navara terrano morph
All you terrano owners look and weep with rejoicing. They actually do make a manifold for your truck that flows more than a maccas straw.

Re: The navara terrano morph
Looking good...
Be great if you could dyno it back to back with a TD27T or QD32eti vehicle when it's all done.
So what is that latest intake manifold from?
With the QD32eti inlet manifolds, it seems there are two designs. The one that you show, where all four (long) runners bend 180degrees, and another where the runners collect into a chamber, and then a single pipe completes the 180 bend (similar, but still longer runners and better looking than TD27T one). Any idea what model/year do what?

Re: The navara terrano morph
If I'm right, the 'long flowing' style are the qd32 N/A (d22 navara) and the ones that look similar to td27t are from the qd32eti (r50 terrano).
Vans (homy/caravan) are different again

Re: The navara terrano morph
You pretty much got it right slide. the long runner one is a qd32 manifold
the other one isa bd30 intake manifold. I will be using the bd as it gives me room for the top mount intercooler.
I would love to dyno it afterwards I will hust have to take the big tyres off to do so as they will end up all over the dyno wall.

Re: The navara terrano morph
Ah of course. Forgot about the n/a QD32. Any thoughts on whether the QD32ETI manifold would offer any advantage over the older TD27T one? Never seen one in the flesh but it looks a bit 'smoother'. The BD30 mani looks good (actually has runners..), but oh so rare.
Does that inlet pipe unbolt & allow turning it to point straight over rocker cover?

Re: The navara terrano morph
Yes it does unbolt, but I'm going to make a better shaped one that flows better. I believe the qd32eti manifold is much like a td27 one. Not sure why they would do that, it may flow a bit better but stuff all

Re: The navara terrano morph
Hey man, very interesting build and I'm watching it closely.
Just a question, how come intake runner length tuning is not as important on a diesel as a petrol engine?

I'm sure it is. But no one is going that far into them at the moment

Re: The navara terrano morph
FYI, you can get those BD30T exhaust manifolds here in NZ. $390+ new.
Ordered out of Japan though. 14 days to get here.

That's awesome, not to bad on the pricing as well.
Can you post the part number if you have it

Just wondering, thanks.
Keep up the good work and the pics coming!
Re: The navara terrano morph
Well did some more work today the turbo is bolted on, port matched and ready to go. Im just waiting for the intake manifold to turn up and I can finish all the induction side of things
Re: The navara terrano morph
Opps they came out in a different order than I intended.
Any way the qd32 heat shield works just fine with a small trim so that was handy

Ha, those buggers. I rang Nissan back and he told me they can't give out the part number. However when you buy one the P/N is printed on the invoice.

Also a lot of the Nissan parts departments request the chassis number to lookup the truck. But find someone who knows a bit more, like the parts guys at Nissan in Lower Hutt and he knows where to find it.

Damn it
I know a few guys who want one in australia
Re: The navara terrano morph
Well big day today removing old door and guards. Still havent got a new bonnet for it but that will be soon.
No big ugly snorkel on it now and huge rubber guards to keep the police happy. Im going to get some terrano mirrors for it. Im thinking the rear is going to need painting now as its all faded but all in good time

Re: The navara terrano morph
Found BD30 in a magazine today, they want 2k for it, does that sound reasonable?
Re: The navara terrano morph
Yup if its going, its easy worth that. Plus you get the sale of your td27 as well
Re: The navara terrano morph
Might see how this one pans out before i do anything.
get the most out of the TD27 first, now that ive intercooled it.
And navara's looking mean by the way looks good with the big tyres.
