Sprung a leak

Post by ockie »

I have a SWB 1994 Pajero.
After driving in the rain the other day I got home and the carpets on the passenger side were soaked through. I have had this once before but thought I may have left the window open a bit, definitely not the case this time. Any ideas as to what the cause could be?

1: heater core leaking...

2: sealant in floor pan/front wheel arch area not there anymore.

Just the front, or the back as well?

I had this issue too.
I spent ages trying to find it. I didn't seem to be able to pinpoint the source either but got there in the end.

Check all the grommets around the area. there's one on the A pillar that requires the front guard to be removed to check it. My one of these had popped off. Fixing that made a difference.
If the vehilce has a sunroof, make sure the drains are unblocked (just pour some water around the area under the glass with it open.

The majority of mine was coming through a little rot hole in underneath the windscreen trims. had that fixed by a panelbeater and she's all mint now!

My Pajero did the same thing, it was the air conditioning drain pipe that had come loose, check under the bonnet on the passenger side there should be a black pipe that goes from the firewall down to the front guard. The pipe should go onto a white pipe that comes out of the firewall.

I think I have found the problem.
The aircon outlet pipe had come off, cable tied it back on and as yet no leaks.
Hopefully this was it and its sorted.
Thanks for all the advice and pointers :D

I siliconed mine back on, though just putting it back on would probably been enough.

Hoped the leak was the loose aircon hose but no luck.
Turned out that it was leaking around windscreen. Previous owner tried a dodgy fix but all it did was cause a ton of rust around the windscreen.
At shop getting fixed now. Hope this will be the end of the leaks...

Haha no issues with mine, it was so rusted that they reckon if I got new brakes and hit the brakes hard it would have fallen out...
