LR owner mentality... ...it's good

Not at all ... cut me teeth on them, had a SWB Series 3 & a 2 door RRC, been fighting Roveritis for about 15 years now. Just got sick of replacing 10 spline axles, and diffs, and gearboxes, electrics, steel, etc

Plus the 'greater than thou' mindset is another reason I moved away from them. Funny how its a one way thing - most of us who used to have a LR who have moved on to Japanese stuff are often the first to say 'nice landy, I used to have one, great vehicles etc'

stupidity is only limited by ignorance. you can have the most bulletproof wagon in the world but if you ignore it's weak points with a toffee attitude it'll bite you in the arse eventually. just have your popcorn ready for when he updates his facebook with some sob story about how his axles have shat the bed due to water ingress. heck, I bet he'll even blame someone else for it :P

Guess you guys don't know your Range Rovers that well.
If you did you will know that as factory standard they had axle, gearbox and T/C breathers that went up to top of engine bay.

Yes, there is a hint of jealously within those earlier remarks.

Is that to make it easier to refill the oil when it all leaks out? :P

It takes a modified Japanese to go where a standard Range Rover will go.

The problem is their quality is shit and you have the tool box out every trip.

I have both so I'm not biased.

Ok Ralph I admit it, I'm jealous I don't have an unwanted American engine. I'm jealous that I don't have a generic german auto gearbox. I'm jealous that I don't have diffs from a 1950s road car or parts bin door handles from an old Marina...

Would I own another one? Yes.

But seriously Mr. Land Rover encyclopedia, my 1972 Range Rover didn't have facotry diff breathers. Bout 15 years ago My old man had a 1987 Range Rover that didn't either. How many Range Rovers have you owned that had factory diff breathers? And pictures please. Heres a pic of my 1984 Series 3 showing some massive flex, I put an LD28 in it (shock horror, toffee taste in mouth) Reg. LL2066

ps I really dont want to offend LR owners, just thought this may be a bit of light hearted banter, of course not all LR owners are like that.

As I said before, just having a laugh, it was never an attack. Or if that constitutes an attack we are living in a ball-less society.
