Been told it's a thinking man's course, not the rip, shit and bust type. Something to think about :wink:

. Only one mud hole :cry:

and they had to truck the dirt and water in to make it

. All those trips in central Otago, especially back of Lake Waikatipu might pay off. Can't wait, like a kid waitng to go on a big holiday :oops:

you guys are all sooks, do you ever go in a competition? im coming up all the way from invercargill, in my falcon but...will go for a look anyway, the misses wasnt keen travelling 1200km in the safari.

some of us are hard core and have got the bug real bad. I would enter more if there were more. Wouldn't mind doing that Southland 24hr Challenge oneday. How do we get into that. I could get an ORE team together no worries.

Hmmm, a weekend in Auckland or a day out at the 4wd trials?? I say there is no comparrison (unless of course you are going to the 4wd rec area up there, it looks awesome on TV). Hope to see the Safari in next year.

Hmmm 5 days in Auckland with a laovely lady, including a free ticket to U2, and also catching up with mates I havent seen in a long time, or 1 day watching a 4x4 trial. Tough choice! (well not really, give me the girl anyway!!) :-D

Sounds like a "tight" course to me where you need a truck that articulates in the centre to get round the pegs :shock:

. I'm going out to have fun and if that means running over every dam peg to complete the track and score maximum points then so be it. If a short wheel base LR with a competant driver cant get through it then its not a course that caters for 4wds with WOFS :evil:

(not that mine has but hopefully will in the future and last time I checked making a 4wd that articulates road legal would be a non event)

Dont forget about the geraldine 4x4 trial hosted by the mid cant 4wd club on the 10th december, the day after the bbq. I'm going to try to get to it.

Competitors have to be there from 0830 to check the trucks over. Will post up tonite when I get home after I check my flyer.
Mike: Have been told the course will trick up the SWB trucks.

hmmm it will be interesting to see how they bias things towards a long wheel base vehicle. Traditionally long wheel base do better at hill climbs and straddling holes etc Great so when the surf dies and the swb is going its the oppisite. Last event I entered I had the surf and the event favoured swb that bent in half.

Checking of trucks starts at 0830-0930. Guess the event will start around 10ish. It will be sign posted from the ashley river bridge just out of Rangioria. Old council quarry I am told. I will be arriving around 0830 so I will try and bags a good spot for us ORE boys.
