hi all ive had my cebora mig for a few years now and its decided to get a little temperamental, the gas and arcing of the wire should turn on when you press the trigger but instead it has decided to be on full time it has happened once before but came right after a bit. Ive stripped the hand-piece but cant find anything wrong the wire doesn't feed until you pull the trigger. didn't know if anyone on here has had any similar problems with their welders. i had to make do with it while welding my truck back together but need to do some panel work soon so don't want to have the same issues. thanks.

cebora mig problem
Re: cebora mig problem
Some migs have a switch (thats easily bumped) usually marked 2t an 4t IIRC, that can change how the handpiece switch controls the wire feed. 2T is normal operation an 4T starts the wire feeding with a press of the button but wont stop until you press the button again. Good if youre doing really long runs
Didn't barbie drive a jeep??
Re: cebora mig problem
its not a flash model its got only power setting and wire speed setting and its not a euro fitting so can't see it is that but thanks for your input.
Re: cebora mig problem
check the main relay is workn properly they sumtimes get sticky after sittn as this controls wire feed an arc or broken wire in the handpeice or lead
Re: cebora mig problem
cheers will give it a go
Re: cebora mig problem
With migs you pull the trigger and the gas, arc and wire feed goes. I would imagine somewhere the wire feed splits off from the gas/arc on - from the trigger. If you have pulled the handset apart I would look at the other end after it splits off to the wire feed (I am no electrician) possibly for dust or burnt stuff

Re: cebora mig problem
sweet thanks for that, i have looked inside this mig many of times and it just looks like spaghetti, i bought an electrical tester so i can test single wires for power so il wave it around and see if it does some magic hehe
Re: cebora mig problem
if the gas and wire feed are working from the trigger then the wiring from the handset to the welder should not be the problem.
but if you want check it follow the mian power wire down at the bottom , where it goes though to the wire feed side . tigger wires are yellow from memory . undo from circuit board and tone them out with the multimeter. also check for shorts to the main welder body . the wires can break inside the nozzle lead.
On the circuit board above where the power setting switch comes though should be a clear sided relay mounted to the board. (it was clear on my Cebora) this is the contactor relay and should click and you should see the little arm move when you pull the trigger .
these can burn out , or weld together the contacts giving you the live tip symptom .
Easy swap out the relay if you are handy with a soldering iron.

imho sell it and buy a decent one.. been there done that and it's not worth all the frustration that you will endure until you do.. I have recently got a new mig and omg what a difference..

i started off getting a Chinese mig new and i will never go there again, i was very disappointed and ended up throwing it. the next welder on the list is an inverter arc/tig as there are many times where i wished i had an arc and wouldnt mind having a play with a tig. but back to the mig, i will have a poke around on the weekend when i have some good light. thanks for the replys.
