Most of the dunes are private land, the rest is a park. while there appears to be no problems walking in the private part of the dunes, Locals have waged a war against vehicles in the dunes for years and you are libel to seriously upset the locals by driving the dunes.

Have property down there, and drive in the dunes/beach frequently, all the locals do this too on the quads and motorbikes and 4wds. They are perfectly happy with you going in there as long as you take it slow through the tracks and are not a super fast noisy motox bike. Kids and horses frequently use the tracks so just go slow. Theres plenty of scenery to look at and some cool tracks. But there is nothing challenging, and stay off the dunes by the beach. If you want a challenge go else where. As long as your responsible and have a bit of common sense the locals wont mind. Well, we wont anyway.

bit confusing but the general rule out there is stay off the dunes, which means don't disturb the formed dunes but yes it is ok to use the formed tracks through the dunes, stick to the tracks, quite a few tracks out there, branch off a fair bit, bit a fun
