diff ratio and locking options for L200

Post by diogenese »

I'm looking for a locking diff for the front of my '91 L200 with a 4D56t. It has a 4.625 open diff in it at the moment and I have a LSD for the back.
Just wondering what my options are?

At a guess it will have a 7.25 inch front diff but I'm not 100% on that. There are no aftermarket options available for that diff. Having said that, Pajero stuff may just bolt in, the japs are good like that.

If you can get a 8 inch 4.625 from a manual 3.0 V6 Pajero then it may just bolt in and then that options up options like Chinese air lockers, ARB locker, lokka etc.

Thats what I'd look into anyway.
SWB V6 Paj with one or two mods ;)

I think I'll pulll the diff and check the size then. If it's 8" then will paj stuff fit?

I believe that it will, not 100% sure though.

Picked up my new back axle with LSD and it will fit on the springs but the drive flange is bigger and with the bigger diff the shaft has to be 20mm shorter :( looks like I'll have to find another UJ and modify the shaft.
Still on the lookout for a big front axle so I'll probably wait as I bet that will need shaft mods too.
