ORE Welly Trip 26/11/2006 - Terawhiti Station
Pics are here

happy enough with the suggested route as it caters for the people who are doing first trip(s) and those that want something harder, there are harder tracks there but these are scratchy and a bit hard for newbies, will save that for next trip(s)

Meeting place is at the old Makara Garage, basically go to Karori, keep going thru (unless you need to stop for a pie & ciggys etc) at the end where there is a left and a right turn to the right and take the first right (signposted makara), go over the hill, when you get to the flat road look for an old petrol station thingy on the right and stop and park up on the road on the left (as far off the left as you can go).

Weather is still looking OK fyi
http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/b ... begDay=330
Just a reminder of When/Where etc. Reminder BYO Food & Drink, Meeting point is just over the Makara hill, get yourself to Karori and go to the end and turn right, take the first right (signposted makara) and go over the hill, when you get to the flat straight road look for a big white old style petrol station and park to the left off the road there so we aren't blocking the road for other users. if you get to a turnoff to the left you have gone too far.....Meeting time is 9.30, a quick safety briefing will be held at 9.45 (Mr O is doing this
)
If its hot don't forget hats and sunblock for the kids as even though its cloudy you still get UV Burn.....
There are some good area's to practice failed hill climbs and hill descents and maybe a quick session on sidlings etc so will stop at these for a bit of quick impromptre training there for those that want it, For those newbies on the trip guidence can be given at the top of steep downhills and the bottom of steep climbs if you aren't sure.

Great trip guys...have asked Markr to plan the next one (perhaps a tour of the old goldfields there as well as some new tracks and bogs) ....big thanks to Mr O (James) who did a great job with the drivers briefing beforehand and leading us to the plastic bay and Markr who did the rest and recovered heaps of people, he kept everyone aware of the hazards and holes etc as well as a bit of the history. Stinky and others who helped out a well.....
will upload my pics when I get a chance......
Damage? Passenger Door & Guard need panelbeating, transfer case took another beating....lost 4wd at a couple of points so was playing it safe at the steep bits.....as well as the hubs needing looking at......
