It is a bit of extra work. The outer skin is only 3mm though, smashed it out pretty quick.

Hey, have looked through you thread heaps of times looking at winch bumper pics as I'm looking at building my own. Just wondering what thickness steel you usually use for the main structural part of the bumper, ie the winch mount plate, and the front and sides of the centre section. I'm looking at using 8mm for winch plate then box it in with 6mm but just wondered if this was excessive or even not strong enough? Any help would be appreciated, love your work!

I use mainly 5mm around the winch. 8mm will be fine but a little harder to work with.

Few questions for you so I can gather info before I cut !
Is the rear window coming from a donor car or custom made cut glass?
Are you going to support the body at the rear corners or just rely on the mounts further forward.....
Look forward to further progress...

Got the Mack truck size radiator in there. Front x member got in the way. Mounted the steering dampener too.

Aww you are beating me to it... Gunna do mine along similar lines but straight down at the back, use that extra space behind the rear seats for storage.
Slip the rear body mounts at chassis level but on the inside of the rail...opposite to factory so to speak..
I watch your tray install with interest... Lets see if you have the same idea I have... lol

Sorry to thread jack Tom but can someone pm me(so not to clog toms thread) with a ballpark figure on what I should be expecting to get the ute panel painted not going for a show car finish as its going to be covered in bar work(and hopefully soon dents ).just something tidy and coulor matched to the silver.
I understand its hard to price something unseen but just a guide would be great as it needs to be painted ASAP before the rust sets in

probably a stupid idea but trying to work out costings on a bit of a project. so estimate, then I'll triple it, add a few years of estimated time and finally a $40 trademe listing for part finished project

Man I'm glad I asked Right, if you had've said "Its a Toyota Hilux" I would have replied "Around the 3-4g mark" But seeing as its a Landrover and the hourly charge out rate of a Priest varies, its hard to give an accurate price

Unlikely. I have yet to see an aftermarket fan that perform anywhere even close to an OME.

I have doubts too. But as you know, I do as I'm told If the radiator is kept spotlessly clean then maybe it'll have a chance.

Any reason you didn't box it off the rad so your draw is through the whole rad not just the piece under the fan... I'm guessing space issues ?

Hi Tom , It's a good man that does as he is told , especially if by a woman , great work as usual and keep the photos up thanks. As for the owner of the radiator and fan set up please for your own sake and the sake of your motor , fit an aftermarket water temperature gauge and put it right in front of your vision , because you will need to keep one eye on it. Years ago on OLD SMOKEY ( ) I fitted a Flexilite (very expensive and move squillions of cubic meters of air) fan that looks like you're one to a complete stand off made for the new radiator shroud (trillions more), wired up through a three way switch --- OFF, MANUAL and AUTO switched by a Honda Civic temperature switch fitted to the top radiator tank by the inlet hose, all in all the fan shroud and electrics cost close to a $1000, and worked fine until you started to push the old girl and then it wasn't up to it. Took the whole lot off and fitted a thermocoupling fan off a later model Cruiser and from then on had trouble keeping the temp up high enough. Just my thoughts and experience but then again I'm just a silly---

Would be lucky if there's a spare 15mm which I didn't think would be enough. Anyways, moving on

Airbox done, 5mm Lexan lid, K&N keeps the leaves out
