Re: R50 Terrano Mods?
They are not popular to off road as you cant do much in the way of a lift. I know you can get longer struts and springs but it is only about 2 inch lift and a body lift is hard when the body and chassis are the same piece. You can do a subframe drop to get a bit more tyre clearance but I don't know of anyone who has done it here.
I have one that the wife drives they are great for lugging the family about, towing stuff and a bit of mild off road. Also they are full of electronics that are all mounted low in the cabin so don't get them wet inside it get expensive.

Yeah not planning on doing too much to it.
Just want to do a little to make it a bit better for getting into my hunting spots and a few easy club runs with the family.
Mainly wheels/tyres and recovery points more than anything.
The alloys it has have very minimal offset so the wheels look to be under the guards quite a bit.
Wondered if 31x10.50 would fit ok without rubbing on either the front struts or guards. I know I'd probably have to get different rims (15x8).
What would be the best offset to get? -19?
It has a full ladder chassis as well, not a monocoque type

Are you a member of a club at all? If so they can advise you on the tow hooks, failing this I can have a look at it for you.
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

Nah, not since moving back down south anyway.
Just after positions to fit hooks really. Haven't really looked into anything yet as I only picked the truck up on Friday.

Re: R50 Terrano Mods?
I have an R50 facelift, only use it as a tow vehicle for the mud truck and daily driver but great truck, as mentioned by others I don't think I would want to take it too far off the tar seal
Mind you the facelift has full time 4wd unlike the earlier ones with manual transfer

I have a 1995/6 PR50 ETi and it has 31x10.5x15 tyres on alloys. As long as all the plastic under guard panels are attached properly there is plenty of clearance though you cannot fit chains to the front wheels as there is little clearance between the shock tower and tyre.
I'm not serious off roader but I do get to some interesting places while looking for salmon or trout. The auto in 4 wheel drive is pretty good.

Re: R50 Terrano Mods?
Ah, meant to mention I replaced the back end coil springs (standard Jap) as it always hit the overrider stops as you went over even the smallest hump. Shocks were stuffed as well. The Kiwi made springs (supposidly standard length) have lifted the rear about 2 inches. The new shocks and springs have made a helluva difference especially on corrogated gravel.

Sounds good there Aviator67.
I'm still researching what offset I need for new rims to be able to fit 31's.

Re: R50 Terrano Mods?
I'm running 31's with stock standard suspension, no problems. Thinking of lifting a bit. Who's lifted one? Springs, spacers? Feedback greatly appreciated
Re: R50 Terrano Mods?
I'm in the process of lifting my R50, lifting the body off the front subframe, taller engine mounts to lift the engine with the body, just leaves the subframe and front diff behind. Taller spring perches on the back diff & relocated shock mounts, longer trailing arms. Safari rear end, disc brakes & all, Sylvia front LSD, mine is factory lsd front and rear & factory manual, its a bit different. Having to change the front diff when I put the safari diff in, to keep the 2 ratios the same. I've got 30-9R-15 A/T Desert Duellers on it, and they have got plenty of room, would like to go bigger but according to the boss lady at home I've gotta wear these out first, and apparently that's not a challenge

Re: R50 Terrano Mods?
I recently picked up a 1996 pathfinder, similar situation, mostly a daily driver but wanting to get off the tarmac a bit.
My wagon sits a little high in the rear, looks like a previous owner put in some stiffer king springs.
I picked up a set of spacers from Canada (1.5" front, 1" rear) - just waiting on some manual hubs to arrive then will put them in at the same time.
Scruffy, how's that sub frame drop going? Got any pics for us?

Re: R50 Terrano Mods?
correct me if I'm wrong but I think the max you can space a rim from the hub is 20mm ?
