terreno gearbox gone mad

Post by philip121 »

on my 1991 terreno 2.7 diesel
every now and then the gear box will stay in 1st gear
does this for a short time then goes back to normal
what is it that makes it do this
how do I fix it or what do I do

clutch usually helps...but it's up to the driver how long he / she keeps it in first..have you tried 2nd/3rd/4th or 5th...how about reverse.....

Or is it an automatic transmission?..if so have you checked the fluid level? when was the last time it was changed?....

Temp sender unit usually has alot to do with it aswell.
Waiter...there is a drought in my glass.

Are there no level indicator markings on the dipstick? You know like on the engine oil dipstick. Filling it till it comes out the tube might be asking for trouble by overfilling it. Once the fluid heats up and expands, it will start dripping out and possibly cause a fire if it drops on hot exhaust.

Its going ok now THE MERCANIC WAS THE PROBLEM not the truck
I thought seeing he was a mercanic it would have enough oil in the gearbox as he told me it did
it played up
I put a liter in goes great NOW
you see I thought he would know
but he don't see what on the piss every night for years does
you end up forgetting things
hes lost it
