Prado 1kz Weight
Need to purchase an engine stand for the prado 1kz , and wondering what weight approx it would be

Re: Prado 1kz Weight
Approx 400Kg. But get the biggest engine stand you can get as if you need to rotate the engine it can be very awkward and possibly get away from you, the cheaper stands tend to flex an make it even harder.
Use an old flex plate from auto on where the engine bolts on then use the pinion from the starter and make a crank handle to rotate the engine.
Be careful they really hurt when they get away or the stand topples. I prefer working with on a bench with a chain block to lift and rotate it.
All the best

Thanks for the helpful advise
Did you end up giving your 1kz a birthday?

The man is right.
Most stands have a pin you remove to rotate the engine but it will flop to where it wants to go.
Often not where you may want it and it falls fast. Knees get whacked and arms get strained trying to slow it, toys fly out of cots.
The flex plate and pinion set up is a bit of work but a goood idea.
Also if it falls onto your feet over balancing you will have a bad day.
