Hankook dynapro
Hankook dynapro
Hi all. Was wondering who's running these tyres and what they're like. Good mileage? What's the grip on and offroad like? Going to be on terrano.

I've got a set of 33s on my FJ40 and they are great on road, also good off road, but they aren't SIMEXs so if your going to get in the real boggy stuff, probably not that good.
I do a lot of river trips and they are great especailly if you drop your pressures down to about 18-20 psi.
Pretty good price as well

I've put a set of these on my farm ute (Mazda Bounty) and am quite impressed with them - they get round the boggy kale paddocks ok and are very good on road.
A mate has a set of 33's and did some tough tracks on the coast with us and went pretty well (we all had to winch at some stage haha)

Treads too closed in my opinion, more of an A/T. They do get good mileage though. Bighorns etc are a better M/T

Re: Hankook dynapro
Had them on my hilux and on one of our work utes, i personally felt they were better than bighorns for what we use the vehicles for.
Great in sloppy stuff on shingle and wet grass, did 60000km in the hilux alot of that was on the road and werent even half worn.
Boss had bighorns on his hilux hated them to soft he thought and wasnt as good at clearing mud out of tread
My 2c
Ive just purchased some more for my new ute

Re: Hankook dynapro
I have got some, but not on the vehicle yet. Before i purchased, i read one review that they won the 2008 mud tire review of a uk 4wd magazine. Up against some useful competition, too. However, I acknowledge that tire technology has improved over the last 5 years.
Re: Hankook dynapro
Interesting. I had bighorn 762's on my old prado and they were a great tyre. Not sure if they're ~$20-30 a tyre better though considering some of the reviews. I do mostly touring/gravel roads/river bed stuff now with a splash of mud once in a while so don't really need as aggressive a tyre. $315ea for a 32/11.5/15 sounds alright yeah?

Re: Hankook dynapro
i have a set on my surf, which only gets used to tow mx bikes around really....but on road they have good manners, quiet and seem to be wearing well.
the old boy has a set on a safari and same results.
also have a bighorn with 3.8commy in it that is just a paddock basher, with two on the front and seem to be alright in the mud its been through.

modified surf, hardly drive it seem to keep modifying it....
Re: Hankook dynapro
I've decided to go with the bighorns now as I've managed to find some 265/75/16s on and rims at a pretty sharp price.

Re: Hankook dynapro
The deal on the bighorns passed before I could get hold of some so still looking at the RT03s. Are they a full sized tyre or smaller than the sizing given?

Re: Hankook dynapro
my RT03 MT tires stand 1cm taller than my Hankook AT tires.(both are 265/70R16)
Mine are on my vehicle now, delivering good grip on soft muddy paddocks.

Re: Hankook dynapro
Good to know. Settled, will get these! Are there any down sides to running a 16" rim as opposed to 15"?

Re: Hankook dynapro
i can measure my 265/70/16s on my surf if thats helpfull? have a bout 5000km on them

Re: Hankook dynapro
the downside of running 16" is that there is a lot less choice in tire sizes than if you have 15" rims.
There is also less choice in aftermarket rims.
But you don't have much choice if your vehicle has brakes that wont fit inside a 15" rim.
Perhaps in a few years 16" will be the 'new' 15" ?
I'm not very experienced in running low tire pressure (in 4WDs at least), but i imagine the 15" rims will allow a bit more sidewall flex and hence provide more bulge and a slight traction advantage. However , given the large diameter of the 4wd tires, I imagine you would be in quite extreme situations for you to notice the difference.

Re: Hankook dynapro
The only reason I'm changing to a 16" rim is I'd like to run a tall but skinny tyre. I've got some 16x7 rims on order for cheap enough and some RT03s coming for pretty cheap too. Pretty much 32/10.5 you could say. May not even need flares! Once I get them fitted I'll update and place some feedback on them.

Re: Hankook dynapro
Fitted up the new rims and tyres (RT03's) on Saturday. They're bloody quiet on the road. Nearly as quiet as my AT's! Took them for a test in the mud and on the river bed down the Ashley yesterday and was well impressed with how they went at 25psi. Definitely like them so far!
