Latest post ever...

On Saturday (13th) I went out on a trip that we ran for the young guys at work. (I am with the Air Force) we headed up Black Birch in the Awatere Valley. We took two of the work Tritons, I had my truck and ne f the young guys had his Hilux.

Once we hit the snow we couldn't get much further as the lead Triton (on A/T's) just compacted it and polished it smooth. Even with traction control and diff lock in.

After admiring the view we went fir a play dwn at the Awatere River, where I got myself well stuck. First time for me in this truck. I knew I should nt have tried the second attempt, made it the first time though! Long story short, after trying to winch forward I was eventually recovered by a Unimog we were able to call out.

Its pushed up against the engine mount by the looks, i can get a filter wrench around the bottom but it wont budge at all.

dont want to rip it out just in case i cant get the other one back in.

Also just went to work to wash out a truck but hose is frozen solid.

Do what i do, stab a screwdriver through the oil filter through the wheel, and do it at an angle to allow for you to turn it, its gets a bit messy, but works every single time

Peace

I'd be more concerned about my oil filter being hard up against an engine mount, and the reason as to why that is?

U def can do it, i have done many times, because the oil filter is just buncha paper in mesh in a tin, no pipes come from the oil filter mount in too far into the filter, so if you stab it on the side, you can use the leverage to turn it, no drama, just stab further away fr engine

And make sure you turn in the right direction, n oil the lip when you put the new filter, because if you oil that rubber lip, you can unwind it by hand next time

Peace

Yeah, found some brands of filters to be too long to fit. When I had mine I bought a strap type filter wrnech that fits to you socket set, brilliant. Easy as to get in there from the inner guard with the wheel off.
Have since sold my Terrano but still use filter tool.

Thats the other reason aswell, no point pulling this one out, and putting another one in there just to get stuck/damaged again, going to sort this issue out before i change the filter.

I think its because we had to lower the trans down a little to fit the safari case, but im going to take it back round and sort it out, probably tommorow.
