This is my brothers old Safari it was written off in an accident about 6months ago.
Its a 1993 Safari
was a great wagon until someone pulled out in front of them.
This is where it gets interesting.

Its now reg as a 1990 and looks to have been repaired. The damage wasn't much but it was enough to be not worth repairing and he got paid out (over $10k)
There was plenty of cancer setting in which is was looking to repair but obviously never got around to it.
So my quess the tags have been switched for it to now be regd as a pre facelift model or a body swap (highly doubt it as its even got the new wheels on it that he had fitted when one fell off a month before the accident).

Re: DODGY SAFARI
might pay to chase that up.
normally if its written off the insurance companies de-register them. its not uncommon for workshops to buy wrecks and rebuild them but re-registering them is another cost and requires inspections.

Re: DODGY SAFARI
This is it at the accident scene.
I have worked on this truck enough to notice it a mile away.
As per pics bumper and grille damaged and now has a new grille and bull bar.
Purple tints.
That tyres on the front are new king stars and the rears are old Goodyear ones. He lost the front passengers wheel at 80kph and couldn't find it so the insurance company purchased those black wheels to replace the set and put new ones on the front.
Both cars written off. I worked for the insurance company at the time and I can confirm it was deregd

Re: DODGY SAFARI
correct me if i'm wrong but they are on two different plates.
so crashed one is written off, someone buys the wreck and uses the body/engine to do up there own patrol and uses their own plates. nothing much wrong with that.

I agree with that and see no issues with that as I know people who have done that.
Its just its looks like all they have done is put a new guard grill bumper and put it on trademe not long after.
I wonder why the haven't taken any pics of the passengers side though.

More like taken a rego and vin from an older rough or wrecked vehicle and swapped over to the repaired vehicle. It illegal but people are doing it all the time.
Quick paint and flick it on for quick buck.
