Oils

Post by ScottishLuke »

G'day,

I've got a TD42 nissan and I'm just wondering what engine oil you wise guys would recommend to be putting in it. At the moment I've just been using Valvoline stuff but I've been given all different kinds of advice. I did find a forum on here a while ago that went into a big discussion about it all but I can't find it now. i don't mind spending money on the old truck if its going to help stop any major disasters later on, been caught out on that one before!! I'm from the school that believes you need to give the engine good oil to keep it right so any suggestions would be greatfully recieved.

I run Castrol GTX Magnetec in mine, 10-W40.

Most important thing is do change it regularly, before the oil reaches it soot handling capacity....beyond that, it loses its ability to lubricate as well.

Change at 10,000kms max, or 5,000kms if turboed.

TOTAL Carter EP 680 or ELF ReductElf SP680. Same stuff, different bottle. We change ours after every comp. With the reservoir system we use, we get 2 oil changes from a 5L bottle.
