Waitawheta track condition

Post by wopass »

Anyone been into the track after the diggers have been in there? cant find any info anywhere except P.Vs post about it being worked on in 2012.

im thinking of popping in to do a check on the track on the bike to take it for a blat on sunday, to see if its worth going back for a trip in the fawdy for a pre season shake down, seeing it hasnt been used since the last manukau WC

any track update would be nice.

cheers

I was talking to one person a month ago, and word on the ground is its fawked worse than it was before the work was done.

The numerous bogs and holes that were once mostly full of watery mud have been filled, but as a result are now meters deep of wet sloppy crap that hasn't consolidated forming truck traps, making them worse to navigate than before.

Apparently it was a real challenge to get any sort of drainage due to the high water tables, which caused the holes to form in the first place.

Make sure you take ya camera :D :D

It is closed to all motor vehicles till labour weekend. we ask that every one respects that, including bike riders so that we do not damage our relationship with the land owners. It will be open at Labour weekend.

It's a public road, it's open all the time technically

Wrong .
A small part is a public road and is open all the time. That part finishes at the gates. The rest is DoC land and is closed by DoC.

This was one of New Zealand's best tracks stuffed by people who think they know better.

On the positive side at least I had a play in there when it was good.

Cheers Richard

what are you talking about? The was work undertaken becouse the land owners said "do the work on the track or it will be closed permanently. Would you prefer that that track was closed?
