Somethings missing

The front of the rear diff pinion has departed from the diff, are the 60 or 40 series the same as a 70 series?

Hi Aaron
this is a common L/C problem, it has to do with spring wrap, worn pinion brgs allowing the pinion to wind into the C/W till it jams, or d/shaft UJ bind more common on the earlier 40s with the smaller UJs.
Yes the 60 & 40 diffs interchange as long as they are a fully floating type

get yourself a 60 or 70 series diff mate, the 40's have corse spline pinions which are weaker than the later ones, either a full or semi floater head will be fine as the only difference is the centre block that the carrier pin runs thru and the side gears, which you can swap over if need be,and if yours is a full floater then thats even better, you can allways swap your carrier pin and centre block over if its not.

is yours a full or semi floater ?

Do you know someone who can set the diff up or do it yourself? I know the guys at The Diff Shop so can get things a bit cheaper than normal. Let me know if I can be of any help.

Finally got it all apart, its a semi floating 4.1,

so I am now after a 4.1 diff head or parts, or even a fully floating complete diff if the price is right.

:? thats a coarse spline pinion mate, weak as piss.
Image get a 60 series diff head and pop it in, much stronger pinion shaft and most times you can get an LSD

will take a pic of all my broken ones for you
