Don't worry, I got it in.

I'm getting a reading of about 10.5psi of boost, (will bump it up to 14 when i get the controller)

Yes... You need to interrupt the line that goes to the waste gate actuator and put in one of those boost tee's.. basically bleeds off the pressure a bit so the wastegate reacts a little slower..
Boost cut for the 1KZ is about 15 psi but sometimes it comes on earlier.
Below is a pic.. interrupt the black tube. Its a bit tricky on the truck but doable, I removed the old one and put on a longer one.

You can also pack out the bracket with washers but its even harder to get to on the truck... This put more preload on the spring.

^^^^^ what he said but its an ass of a job. Got to remove all the junk in the way and then its still a prick of a job. Need small triple jointed hands with two elbows. :?

I've got a tee boost controller to fit to mine (had it for over a year now and still not fitted  and a boost gauge to fit as well now).

I have just installed a boost gauge. Max it runs is just over 9. Is it worth the effort to put the boost tap in and take up to just under 14? With the 3inch exhaust and DP chip I am thinking and extra 4lb of boost may make a difference.

I put a manual boost controller on my one and wound it up to just under 13, after that fuel cuts, also had a 3 inch pipe. Didn't really notice much power difference?..but i was pulling 33s
