KZN185 surf going through rack ends like water...

Hi Folks

99 KNZ185 surf with a 2.5" lift up front - going through inner rack ends like no ones business! they'll last about 6 months max and start to get loosy goosy knock knock in the ball. Am I the only one? I've used Partmaster ones (crap), repco ones (look original but still don't last). Must admit I haven't gone for OEM yet, but I understand the Repco ones at least are oem suppliers.

Any good ideas?

Hi Matt, a couple of 185 Surf owners/90 series Prado owners have mentioned this area of weakness on this forum recently.
It was suggested that the parts in question are just not stout enough given the weight of truck and the type of driving(in one case , a lot or river stone driving, so it is hard on the rack ends.)
Tell me what type of 4WD driving you do, and also tell us about the lift(how it was achieved.)
My Surf is not currently lifted, so have no reference here... is there a chance that the lift you have changes the angles of the rack ends?

I've got a 2" EFS lift, and yes rack end angles are different of course but certainly not markedly so, and even at full droop they are not binding. The outer ball is untouched - no problems with that, it's just the inner rack ends that very quickly develop slack in the ball.
