TD27 alternator upgrade?

Post by BogBoy »

Ok so I searched and found some info about this.

Mine is a 1992 D21 so it has the 70 amp alternator?

I want to go to 100 - 110 amp.

I understand this might/can cause problems.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Hitachi JFZ1912 is the code you are looking for at the wreckers.

Comes back to a 24v item with a ripped pulley?

Hmmm also says they come in a 12v fitted to a nissan sentra?

Not much point in upgrading your alty unless the new one comes with a vaccy pump on it. The alty on the TD's have a vaccy pump where others have a mechanical one on the engine as I have now
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

There is no easy upgrade as there are no decent output vac pump alternators.
The highest output one i can think of that will fit is the 80 amp isuzu bighorn unit but they are prone to failure just like the original terrano one.

Make sure it has a vac pump. The only 100 amp alts on terranos are the later R50 units and they dont have a vac pump.
