Word is, due to only 10 entries confirmed so far, they aren't sure if there will be a Shefield Mud Plug this year.

As some have been stating for several years, they've been pegging the course in such a way as to make it almost impossible to complete without stopping and reversing (unless you've got a trial buggy with fiddle brakes  ), which basically gives you a DNF. They've always said it's a fun event so if you don't want to risk a rollover thats what you should do, to me that takes the fun out of competing, or you could do like some and purposely drive over three quarters of the pegs.
My complaints fell on deaf ears at the time, since then the numbers competing have dropped off every year because of the same issue.
I guess if they wanted a charity mud plug and plenty of vehicles competing they should've run that type of event, not a trials event as there's only a few buggys down here.
Without the competitors there's nothing to spectate, would've been an easy fix a few years back, but think a lot of competitors would be once bitten twice shy.
I've supported the event by spectating and buying plenty of food, but have voted with my feet from a competing point.

This is exactly it, I have mentioned it before too. I would happily enter the 80 if it was pegged like it was 4 or 5 years ago.

Well said Tim...they also seem to make it so plenty of vehicles will roll.Way to hardcore now for people who dont want to or can afford big damage.

I've, "heard" that if it doesn't reach a certain amount of entries (20 or 30?) I forget the number, a week before the event, it'll be called off.

If they have made changes to how it's pegged out, like stated, how it used to be 4 or 5 years back, they need to make this known somehow.
Personally I'd hate it if this event was cancelled.

Not many people can afford to enter their 4X4 truck if they know it's going to be like a winch challenge. This event isn't meant to be hardcore. It's all for a bit of fun I thought.

It also comes at a busy time of the year for the winch guys, every one wants to see a roll over, so I spose the track will be marked to suit.
I too have competed several times and yes it is getting away from the club truck base.

Maybe this will bring a change.

Would be a shame to see this event cancelled, at the moment only 12 entries. A lot of people are looking forward to attending as spectators and I guess primarily this is a fund raiser and public entertainment.

I know I'm looking forward to marshalling.

Who would enter tomorrow if the courses were reset to make them club truck friendlier? Perhaps an option for A and B type stages with one easier than the other?

Rather than letting the event fall over let's get some positive ideas together and see what can be done.

I'd be in. Did the Oxford teams event because it was at that clubbie level. Not into sitting bogged in bonnet deep slop waiting for a tow. Adds a lot to organise 2 seperate courses though because there's no challenge for the top trucks at the level I'm happy to play at. Presumably thats why they dropped the easy & hard course format they used to run several years back.
