Newby from outside Chch

Post by Campbell.s »

Hi all

I bought a standard sj413 round a year ago have since rebuilt engine and gearbox fitted 2inch lift kit, lock right rear locker, winch, 225/75r15 KL71 tyres made side skids, and a few other running repairs. Use it mainly for fishing rivers and lakes. Want to get out and do some more tracks around canty area such as okuku and Ashley. Have done the selwyn and lake sumner tracks but spend most of my time in river beds.

Mods still to do, can't decide on modding the 1300 or getting the g16, any help on that would be much appreciated. Would like to fit power steering also.

Cheers

A lot of good stuff here

http://www.auszookers.com/forum/

I went through the same decision.
hunted for a twin cam 1300 for a while, even entertained putting an sc12 supercharger on the 8v 1300 but have ended up going down the g16 injected swap. Drove one and it was like the sj Suzuki should have made. 4age seem to be a common swap too.

If theres nothing wrong with the engine as you have rebuilt it I'd almost keep with running that. They're a good little motor.

Jimny powersteering was all a bolt in. vitara gear has a bit more messing around and i think the conversion needs to be certed??

Sweet cheers for that.

I've been reading a few posts on here saying that upgrading the exhaust made a big difference from the pea shooter it has so might try that and see how I go. Finding a g16 seems to be like hens teeth haven't a lot of success as yet.

I'm glad you said the jimny steering was a better swap, was about to go out and get the vitara gear. Thanks.
