Will definitely be there if there will be a modified class. Will the tracks be set in the forest or cut over?

Not sure exactly what we are doing but there will be somewhere for you to race.
suzukisport wrote: Will the tracks be set in the forest or cut over?
Forest, from what I understand. Dumbass or George will be able to answer that better.
toyv8lux wrote:hope my truck is ready to go.
It drives. That's ready isn't it?
Re: Rotorua Winch challenge 7th/8th of September 2013. Its o
Will do our best to avoid cut over. hate picking up sticks and so does the rest of the crew. Most of the cut over has been planted and is a no go area. Will use the remaining areas of forest at the far end of the block plus the real tough section close to the pheonix rd gate. This is known as the play block or bomb site. Trucks go in and they don't come out.

Hi Jungle
What do we need to do if we are coming as part of the crew for one of the competitors?

Hi everyone. Had a meeting tonight and can clear a few things up.
Keep an eye on http://geyserland4wd.co.nz/ and you should see an entry form on there in the next day or two. Entries will close on Friday the 16th (so you have a week and a half) and payment in full will be needed with your entry. (might even be a slight price reduction
)
We are running all three 4x4 Challenges classes as per the 2012 rules which can be found here. http://www.4x4challenges.org.nz/news/113.
We will also run an "Outlaw" class which is basically anything goes so long as you meet safety standards. Ie you will need a 6 point cage, automatic load holding brake on your winch etc etc. On the day of the event, if all the modified guys are happy, we will combine modified and outlaw in to one class.
Please note that all classes will be scored separately and as such there can be no comparison between classes. Please do not ask "who was the overall winner" as I will simply inform you that you are an idiot. Some stages may be shorter/easier for club class if need be, the rest will all run the same tracks.
Spectators. No. Due to this event being on forestry land, we unfortunately can not accommodate spectators. Reasonable support crews and of course volunteers/marshalls are more than welcome.
Marshalls. I was supposed to have contact details for our head marshall, but I don't. For now PM me and I will make sure he gets your details.
Shout out if I have missed anything.
Cheers.

The team just did two solid 9-5 type days of track setting. And by setting I mean clearing so a vehicle could actually get up them, and in some case complete track creating. Still a lot more work to do but so far it's looking fast and really fun!

After a quick snatch recovery.

The crew hard at work on one of the few short sections of track that has had cut over on it.

You guys got an idea yet on how many stages you will run? Any night stages?

Re: Rotorua Winch challenge 7th/8th of September 2013. Its o
I'm not the best person to answer, but at this stage it looks like maybe 12 to 16 stages including night stages. (and at first glance some of these will be long stages)
Please DO NOT quote me on that.
It partly depends on how early you all want to start on Saturday. If everyone is happy to be scrutineered on Friday night, then we can run more stages on Saturday.
So, to the competitors, can you all make a Friday night scruit? Say between 7pm and 9pm. Or will some of you need the travel time and a Sat morning Scruit? We can do both, but it would make our planning easier if we knew what suited each of you. Answer here or PM me if you prefer.

Entries close tomorrow night folks. We need minimum numbers or the event won't happen.
EDIT.
Sorry, I worded that all wrong. Entries are NOT closed, but we needed minimum numbers by that date to ensure the event happened.

Hi everybody.
WE ARE STILL ACCEPTING ENTRIES AT THIS STAGE. We needed a minimum number by Friday to ensure the event happened. We have those, but are still taking entries.

Re: Rotorua Winch challenge 7th/8th of September 2013. Its o
have you got a plan of where competitors need to be and when?
Re: Rotorua Winch challenge 7th/8th of September 2013. Its o
Happy to announce that prize giving will be held at www.offroadnz.co.nz in their "bush camp dining venue".
There is a large parking area and it is handy to the competition area (basically on the way home for most of you). There will be a BBQ available to cook on. (BYO meat/food etc)
Finally they will be giving away a few Kart racing vouchers. Check 'em out. These things do 100kph! http://www.offroadnz.co.nz/off-road-nz/ ... 1579_.html

Short answer is No. Not yet.
Ideally we will scrutineer everybody in town on Friday evening and get into racing first thing Saturday morning. We will be able to scrutineer people in the bush on Saturday morning if need be.
There will be night stages on Saturday.
Start time for Sunday will likely be determined by how Saturday goes. Finishing late arvo, packing up to be at Offroad NZ arond 4-6pm for prize giving.
That's the plan, it may change.

Marshalls! There are a few prizes specifically for you! (decent ones too). PM me if you want to marshall. You won't have to marshall all the time.

Awesome event was a heap of fun. First time driving for me. Stages were good and challenging and really well marked. Big thanks to all the marshals, sponsors and everyone who helped make the event. Can't wait until the next one.
Think I managed to video every stage on the GoPro incab so might try upload some of those later on.
Cheers Thor
