Lifting 92 bighorn

Post by pmfg »

Howdie all, forgive me if this has been a topic before, but i cant find anything on it.

I have a 92 bighorn and wanted to raise it 2 inches. I was wondering if anyone knows if its possible to pinch some standard springs out of another 4x4 like a safari and if so what model safari.

Get some front springs out of a swb GQ safari and cut 1/2 a turn off the bottom or until it fits the bottom hat and line the top up so it doesn't rub on the chassis and you will get your lift it also helps with towing as they are designed for a heavier wagon.

It did about a 2.5inch lift in my swb bighorn.

If your planing on towing I have a pair of poly airbags for one of these to help with dropping the back end with weight. Pm if your keen

You can fit Range Rover Classic springs, but you have to fit the RR bottom plate. There are two RR springs that give you 35 to 50mm lift, with approximately the same spring rate as the Bighorn: NRC4304 and NTC3285.

Another spring that fits in the rear of the Trooper is from the front of a Grand Cherokee. Just need to cut the pigtail on one end. Diameter is the same, you get around 2" of lift. They come in 3 different rates according to the engine (4 cyl, 6cyl, V8). The V8 springs are those most people fit (in the US, Jeeps are not really scarce there...).
