TERRANO PROBLEM
After hosing out the inside of the terrano, td21 model, i turned the car off, went to start and nothing, used a volt meter and found with the key on ACC it has full power 12V, and soon as it goes to on the power is 5V, any ideas?

Re: TERRANO PROBLEM
Voltage drop when load comes on can be cased by a dirty battery termanals
Take each termanal off the battery and use some good rough sand paper and polish up the termanals and the inside of the termanal clamp where contacts battery post and refit nice and tight

make sure the transfer case is in neutral when towing or you could damage the auto
Re: TERRANO PROBLEM
Does sound like dirty contacts or similar. Does it make any clicking sounds at the starter solenoid? Give the starter motor/solenoid a "Tap" with a hammer..
Dont follow me. i'll get stuck and need a tow..
Re: TERRANO PROBLEM
can also be faulty ignition switch contacts.
Re: TERRANO PROBLEM
Tried jumping it again and it fired up but cuts out, now the batt is completley dead, thinking maybe alternator or battery is faulty, sitting in the shed with the dehumidifier going inside it while battery is on charge, will keep posted, thanks heaps for the help i did notice the ignition was binding with the key in it so sprayed crc in the lock and its fine now

Why did you hose out the inside?
I suspect you have water in the ignition switch and this is causing a short or voltage leakage and this is your issue.
Disconnect the battery and spray the ignition switch clean with a good electrical contact spray, not WD40 or the likes. You may have to take the steering column covering off to expose the switch properly. Only reconnect the battery when it is properly dry inside.
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

Re: TERRANO PROBLEM
Used the hose to wash the mud away, i didnt spray it with the nozzle, i took the nozzle off and just let it run, i made drain holes for the water to run off
Re: TERRANO PROBLEM
I have done this a million times and just now its had a problem
