you need to qualify that a bit better. for example my 2.7 is an ETI and can get around 950 980 kms on a tank when driven nicely.
the pre 96 mechanical pumps are probably around 500-750 kms on a tank and that's if they are unmolested.
then the 2.7 is bullet proof compared to the mitzi one anyway.
Too many variables for example a nissan TD2.7 with 300k on the clock is probably still less likely to break then a mitzi L200 motor (4d56 I think?)with 200k on the clock.
But then the later TD2.7 ETI is more likely to need an injector pump rebuild around 180K if it hasn't been maintained.

Re: l200 mitsu 4 wheel drive diesel are they economical
iv found the 4d56s to be very reliable, owned around 5 of them in pajeros and l200s, only thing ever to go wrong is a blown turbo, ks ranged from 150-420 on them, and tbh i didnt maintain them the best
4wd non turbo l200 got around 650km
4wd turbo l200 was a little better
of course it depends on the type of driving you do, i did a mixture of town and 100k zones, i sold my old non turb one to a mate who drove it from hamilton to chch and reckoned it used under a tank and a half, and that was a single cab fully loaded with all his crap as he was moving

Re: l200 mitsu 4 wheel drive diesel are they economical
i get around anywhere from 520 to 580 a tank depending on driving conditions like town motor way etc , they prefer to sit at 90k then 100 as they rev alittle high helps the mileage abit but not hell of alot that id hold traffic up
Re: l200 mitsu 4 wheel drive diesel are they economical
They are good on diesel, My one did from here to bulls (634km) on less than a tank.
Turbo, 31 ats, canopy, builders tools in the back.
It also seems to not matter how hard you dri0ve it, is always frugal, can drive everywhere foot flat and use next to no more diesel.
only issue is if you get caught doing 140km/h plus.
Done well over 300000k's now too, only normal maintainence
It's soooo much better then the hilux (1kz) we use now.

i'd say yours has the taller 5th gear in that case ? there is two diff gear boxes i have the lower ratio 5th in mine which makes me sit just above 3,000 rpm at 100k
