BEFORE you flame me have been searched and googled but getting very mixed messages.

front wield /rear spartan locker?

front locker/rear wield

spartan locker in both? is this plausible?

been quoted just above 2k for the factory auto lockers in some of the cruisers, but i feel thats abit pricy and well ARBx2 I would like to keep both my nuts.

cheap chinese copys could be a go but read, that the spartan lockers are pretty good... and less risk involved

Hi

I put Lockrights in the front and rear of my BJ73 .

It went really well like that and meant the lack of travel was not a issue.

Locker front and rear. Dont weld front diff. It wont steer very well on the mud etc

I mean dont weld front diff. Locker is okay in front diff.

Lockers front and rear are a good idea!

A front 'drop-in' locker will essentially double the load on your CV/birfield joints/axles. This may be annoying in high traction terrain where momentum is required (uphill rocks etc). In such a scenario the vehicle may lift a wheel and then bite down hard.

ARBs are not without their problems though... a lot of people carry a spare actuation solenoid + air lines in their trail spares.

+1 for OEM selectable cable lockers.

the Spartans seems good price but if i remember there was a guy on here that did the lockrights is he still here?

just looked up how to install those lockers easier then i thought..


and i know sweet F/A about those cable lockers installing ect but 2 k for a second hand product is that what there worth?

Not sure what they are worth sorry, I just think cable lockers are a f*n sweet factory option!

nzlux recently put front and rear lockers in his truck, Lokka brand, essentially same mechanism as Spartan

Suzolla is the guy who sells lockright and spartan lockers, there pretty easy to install, you can do them without a dial gauge but would recommend checking the backlash if they haven't been touched before and you need a dial gauge for that.

With the NZ dollar high against the use I bought Lokka's (same design as lockright, maybe even same factory but I could be wrong there) for about NZ$380 an axle (LN106 hilux). the site is www.lokka.com

They were posted separately keeping the cost under $400 a package so no GST either.

No problem driving on the road with the rear locker, the front does make steering hard where there is good traction. If I did it again I would still put lockers in both diffs.

ATM 357.32 NZD including shipping not a bad price might have to do some research.........

Suzolla sells the lock right and spartan around the 500 mark depending on model, I wouldn't think you would find cheaper than 360 delivered to your door from the states tho.

The lunch box lockers are all very similar in design. If you want to have a look at one as I've got a spartan one in a diff on my bench and one in the front of my Hilux send me a pm.

Had to move 12 bails of hay from a shed in the paddock to a shed in the section, makes it easier to feed the horses in the morning. Could have used the tractor (and made 2 trips) or one trip with the hilux….

Tyres at 40psi (for the road, it was a 15 minute job so didn't air down) low second and it made it down to the shed then back up out of the paddock in low 2 with 12 bails on the tray… it made a mess but it didn't stop… just kept moving, all four wheels spinning in the mud….. with open diffs I would have been pulling the hilux out with the tractor!!!

Definitely go for lockers (I did auto due mainly to price) front and rear and it will transform your 4x4.

Well just got the beast and well the front leafs are fucked need a reset or replacement bugger
