Two Day Guided Safari Waiouru Military Training Grounds

Post by micahb »

Operation Stirling
Run by OFFLIMITS Charitable trust, http://www.offlimits.co.nz/
Official Site: http://www.offlimits.co.nz/operation-stirling

This year, the tour is specifically designed for families and owners of 4x4s who want to go off road, see amazing sights, experience adventure but not damage their vehicles. The route will be selected to accommodate utes, SUVs and the more road orientated 4x4s. Big mud tyres and winches are not required. Camping provided on the Waiouru military camp rugby field or sleep in the barracks and an Army meal provided on the Saturday night plus both breakfasts.

The more ‘club orientated 4x4s’ are welcome to attend and these vehicles will either be used for recovery or will be split into their own group so they can undertake more challenging terrain! Don't let the warm weather fool you, there's still plenty of very challenging tracks we can go!

This is not just the western side of SH1, this is the WHOLE training area in use.

We have close on 200,000 acres we can view so there is plenty of tracks, gravel roads and desert we can explore. The idea is to have a fun weekend, get the vehicles dusty, muddy and sometimes in slightly uncomfortable positions but not to the extent that they get scratched or dented. This event is ideal for families and those who love driving their 4x4 but are not experts with it off-road.

Ill be there as a marshal/helper/recovery/tailendcharley and whatever else is needed.
Any questions ask away, all info needed on websites above otherwise.
Hope to see some of you there!

Cheers, Micah.

Offlimits is a charitable trust and our mission is to raise money to support the health and welfare of servicemen and women.

Would be keen to join in with the club trucks, but the price turns me away. I know it's for charity though.

has the date been changed?
When i first viewed this post, the date was 14th-15th DEC. Now it says 7th/8th. Strange.
I see that there is now a quad bike weekend on the 14th/15th.

we all know it's not cheap... just have to keep reminding ourselves that there is a decent chunk of "donation" in there , for the purpose of fundraising.

I was keen to do this but too expensive also if for any reason they decide to cancel it for any reason then you only get a maximum of 60% of your money back if THEY cancel it. How is that fair?
