Seems like R180 LSDs are hard to find :(

I saw a U12 Bluebird today that said 'VLSD' on the side  :?:

If your Terrano is a V6, a VLSD from a 87-89 300ZX will fit straight in. Or a CLSD froma 4x4 D21 Navara rear.

So my Terrano is not a v6 so I would have to get a R200 housing from a v6 and C200 lsd rear from a early Nivara/Terrano. there are no combinations for an r180 lsd front in a terrano?

Slide/crash may know more about compatible R180 LSDs

But re; the R200, yes, I believe you are correct.

But first - your Terrano, what type of CV axles are in it? Identify by 5 bolts or 6 bolts.

Also to consider:
-If you have the 5 bolt (HD) CVs then they will marry up no worries.
-If you have 6 bolt (3x2 bolts), unfortunately it wont work unless you install the entire V6 front end - knuckles, brakes, CVs, etc. Unfortunately you can't swap 6 bolt CVs into the R200 because of its larger spline count.
-To fit the R200, you need to move the engine up 10mm or drop diff. Slide moved engine up, possibly extend engine mount studs?
-V6 R200s were available in 4.3 or 4.6 ratio (man/auto), which means you'll most likely be able to find some gears cheap

As you can see it gets to be a decent amount of work, but if you have all the parts, its a very cheap conversion.

Calmini make an R200 LSD which is nothing more than a slightly modified 300ZX LSD - another ripoff from Calmini.

yes I have 5 bolt c.vs the wd21 ones.
do the c200 come in 4.88 because that's what im running. Its just that I think the r180 are plenty strong and have you installed the diff drop kit to fit yours ?

Sweet then you won't need to f** around with CVs etc, just the diff itself.

Yes, 4.875 C200 gears can be found in non-turbo TD27 3 doors and some (I think) Navaras. CA48 trans code.

Nismo do gears down to 5.13 for this diff..

I'm running 4.875, no dramas yet, Nissan 200/233/260 gearsets are reputedly very durable, and most 4x4 front diffs run on the coast side of the tooth anyway..

Yep I diff dropped. Try Ruggedrocks.com. Steevo can be hard to get a hold of and sometimes doesn't want to send such a small item overseas, otherwise I am trying to get some kits in the next few months, still trying to source a decent quantity at a good price

^^^ That plus some cryo'd R180 gears would be the shizz

Personally hard to justify, no SAS potential w the R180

I spent a lot of time on navara.asia and nicoclub looking into this.

They seem to think the clutch type is better, mainly because you can rebuild/ modify it easily to jump into life instead of being progressive. C200 has 6 clutches from the factory!

Just to clarify, r200 doesn't mean viscous as c200 doesn't mean clutch type.
Both can be found open centred, and some r200's are clutch type.
R / C is the diff style, and 200 is the size

It will revert to open mode but IMO that is a good thing if you are giving it some decent love on an uphill high traction obstacle etc.

"Brake throttle modulation" to get you going which is a Humvee operator technique for locking their torque sensing IFS/IRS differentials. We're talking HMMWV none of this H2/H3 junk.

But LSD will never be a locker, but thats what I like about it in the front. I see it as a good compromise. Its open until it finds some slip, then it helps out.

ps thats 6 clutches on each side of the C200 LSD :o

I retract that statement. After super-packing it, it is ridiculous, locked the whole time. Lift a wheel, still locked. I might take one clutch either side out and try again.

You would need a WD21 V6 front diff ($100ish?) and a C200 LSD ($400ish), and some 4.8 gears from a CA48 Navara rear end ($$??) or ideally, a complete CA48 LSD rear end.

Remove the internals from the V6 housing. Put the CA48 gears in the V6 front housing (incl. solid spacer). Put the LSD in the V6 housing.

To make it fit you would then need to lift the engine up 10mm on its mounts or do the diff drop bushings.

PM Trenchrat, he has a C200 LSD that I think he doesn't need.
