Ford F150 with 1kz-te (now only T) and R150F transmission

Post by peachepe »

Hello,

After many attempts to keep the truck running fine, it's just to expensive.

We are almost finished adapting a Toyota 1kz-t engine with a R150F transmission, which has the the front drive shaft on the right side.

Being my truck originally 2wd, I would like to take advantage of the 4x4 transmission, only problem is: The differential on the 4x4 f150 models is on the left side.

Since it would be hard enough to find a front axle from a 4x4 f150 (will probably need to visit Honduras, where they are more common), are there any transfer cases for the r150f that have the front drive shaft on the left?

Sorry if I'm not explaining myself correctly, my english tends to suck.

I'm only able to find pictures of r150f with passenger/right side drop transfer cases.

Can you point any specific transmission/truck models? (I did try with kzn185)

Could you not rotate the front knuckles and swap the diff over to the right side ?

That's something I'm not aware of. Do you have any links from people who have done this?

TBH I think it's totally doable.. would mean changing the mounts from each side but basically set them up like it is but the opposite side.. hope that makes sence..lol that way you get the same axle on the right side Just mirror it..
Oh you can be the pioneer :)

I will discuss that with the mechanic, but it does sound weird to me, haha.

Anyways, wouldn't it be easier to find a r150f transfer case with driver side drop? Well, do they exist? So far I have found only automatic ones. . .

I think what you are after is the transfer from a independent front end surf compared to the beam axle hilux.. one will have drivers side drop transfer and other will be passenger side.... I think this is what you are asking..?
As long as it's from the hilux/ surf family Im sure you can find one.. But the F150 is a big truck so not sure if it would be strong enough..?

Any KNZ185 the front axle comes out on the left hand side of the vehicle when sitting in it. Any of the 130 series KZN130, LN130, and the V6 what ever its called are all on the right hand side.
