No electrics

Post by alvis »

Gidday guys, was out on the farm last night with the big spots on. The 40 drove fine untill the head lights started flickering at low rpms. I turned the truck off with everything still working well but now it wont start?. I have no electrics at all, the car is totally dead ie no headlights, starter or anything else electrical. The battery is still good as the spots are connected directly to it and they still work. I think the 400watts of spots may have shat something   . Could it be the fuse on the coil? Any help would be greatly appreciated as driving the nissan to work sucks compared to my cruiser. Cheers

It's been a while since I worked on a 40series, But I think the main positive supply to the ignition switch and fuse box comes from main battery stud on the starter solenoid so that's the first thing I'd check along with all the earth cables ie(battery to chassis and body). Also some toyota's have fusable links(a small cable made of flexible fuse wire)check for one of these in that positive line, but I dont recall seing these on the 40 series.Hope this helps
