D21 Steering Damper Pin..................AGAIN

Post by BogBoy »

Ok so been waiting over a month for mine to arrive from nissan...

Rang them today to be told they have to get them made and they cant find any one to do it.

They gave me two options... Go get my money back or wait.....

Does any one have one fitted to their vehicle that I can borrow?

I found a guy here in Christchurch who will make me some but he need's one to copy first.

I can pay for shipping if one has to come from out of town

Factory part number is NI-4861201G00

Yep I asked a few traders on Ebay and they want a minimum of $65 for shipping plus the $23-$28 for the pin...

Might just go that way and then copy the one I buy to sell over here :?

I have been resisting answering this, because my suggestion is a tad rough. This is what i did on T1. Drilled a hole in a very strategic place up through the chassis rail (just over the idler arm) and use a long 8.8 bolt to mount the dampner to the chassis. It can be seen (just) in this old picture.

BTW it didn't achieve much and i have never used one on T2. And another thing, the dampner won't bolt to the drag link without making another bracket to move the pivot point forward. For this use some flat bar and bend it around the back of the drag link and bolt it through the factory point to secure it. Trim the ends and drill the hole for the dampner.

Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!
