Can a 1998 Second Gen G16b gearbox fit a 1998 First Gen G16b

As the title states I have the box shaped g16b vitara, and was wondering if a 2nd generation 1998 grand vitara gearbox would fit with no mods?

also are any of the other parts compatible?

early vitara boxes are cable clutch, grand vitara boxes are hydraulic clutch, the early boxes are pretty hardy, the grand vitara boxes aren't. anything can be done with enough know how, time and effort, but why you'd want to go there is another thing.......
