2L + turbo free-boosting and fuel screw as far as it will go - used about 12 litres for the Hanmer winch challenge. (plus a couple of litres of engine oil)

On gas? Pretty messy if you tried to run it on gasoline Phil.

The 2L-TE in my LJ71 used to do about 12L/100km before it got biffed in favour of the Lexus V8. I didn't think that was too bad given how aerodynamic a Landcruiser 70 isn't.

But like Tom says, savings on fuel will possibly be wiped out by regular replacement of cracked cylinder heads

10l/100km if driven nicely and its a good one.
add in 4x4 tires/gear and its worse.
however these are old engines and unless its been rebuilt its going to be tired.
also they are a small low powered engine in a 2 ton 4x4 with aerodynamics of a brick. very easy for fuel economy to go straight out the window.

then theres the crack easy heads, assuming its even got an original still on it.
