Just doing an HEI conversion on the stage 1. It has a 3.9 in it from a disco 1, 1995 model.
I have read the thread on page 3 of the forum and all looks good but mine wouldn't start.
I ran a link wire from the existing coil 12 volt supply to the new unit for a 12 volt supply and the HEI generated spark. It is installed correctly (ie: top dead centre to plug 1).
We managed to get it to start by jumping the supply wire back to the other side of the old coil.
Is it acceptable to use the old coil supply wires to run the HEI unit?
Does the ecu need a pulse from the coil under normal operation to run the injectors? and if so, how do i wire up the new unit to do that?
the wiring diagram looks like it it has a white/blue wire that comes from the ecu via a fuel injector resistor on pin 39 (page 13*51 of disco 1 manual) to the coil. Does this mean that the injectors won't fire unless it has a pulse from the coil??

HEI conversion question
Re: HEI conversion question
Yup, well that was the case with my 3.5 injected Rangy anyway. Didn't want to know until that wire was added not the equation.

Re: HEI conversion question
ok got it sorted, rang brian howat (should have done that first).
pos from existing coil to "bat" on hei and neg to "tach" which sends the pulse to ecu.
thanks
