What thickness rear window glass should I use? Weather seal.

Post by kbushnz »

Ok done a bunch of searching...
Need to get the rear window sorted in my Playdoh bum chop...
Do not want to go lexan / Plexiglas....So don't bother suggesting it.

So question is what thickness glass has everyone used?? If they have used glass..
Was thinking about 4mm toughened safety glass as per original style for side and rear window panes.

Laminated glass was suggested to me, but at 6.4mm thick.... Nah.. And its overkill for a rear window..

Also where is a good place to buy the weather seal from. All the ones I have approached want to sell me a whole 15m roll ! only need a few meters.

Men do not quit playing because they get old.
They grow old because they quit playing.

I have a part roll in my garage about 6.5 M long complete with chrome insert. Looks like its for 4 mm glass. Donkeys Years old, but been in the dark storage so should be fine. Free to a good home. I could also lend you the proper tool to do the job. Might even be persuaded to install it for you. Did zillions of them years ago but haven't done one for years.
