Annoying oil leak, 1 KZ-TE

Post by Smitty01 »

Hi all,

I have a 93 Land-cruiser Prado SWB and have recently discovered a series of oil leaks coming from the engine, one that looks like its coming from the power steering pump and the other is dripping from the bellhousing. I have heard of this happening to some other 1 KZ-TE's and am hoping that its not a rear main seal?? Maybe the oil level switch? Any help would be much appreciated, I have sprayed the areas with de-greaser and will investigate further tomorrow.

Many thanks.

exactly the same problem as me. use search to see the other posts about this topic.

could be loads of things.
probably your steering pumps is weeping.
oil leak could be: oil pressure sender, oil level switch, oil cooler housing, tappet cover, oil filter or housing or the rear main seal and carrier that surrounds it.
