Whangamata 4x4 club
Hi ya'll, just a quick note to let you all know that after the great success of our first Matariki Forests safari in Whangamata, we have now been granted permission to run 3 events per year in and around the Whangamata area. We are looking to run another basic safari/school based type event in November ( or maybe aniversary weekend for the holiday people) and we are looking at running a 4x4 safari staged event, based around the more experienced safari entrants and consisting of two days with special stages to run that may be a bit more of a challenge than your usual safari/school event. The third event may be along the lines of the 2nd but run as a teams event with a bit of extra stuff for the winched up guys (or the odd tough truck
) We are keen to get a real mix of 4x4 people at the two new events. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Whangamata 4x4 club
Good to hear you finally got it mate. Look forward to it.

If you already know everything, DON'T ask bloody questions!!
Re: Whangamata 4x4 club
If anyone is interested in any of our three events, please have a look at www.whangamata4x4.org for event and entry details... Our local area school is allowing free camping sites with showers and toilets, right next to the local swimming pool and walking distance to town and beach for the January event. Lunch and breakfast is also included with this event so no reason not to come... The Nov event is already filling up fast

With the two De tour whanga events in 2014; is a wof/reg needed?

Re: Whangamata 4x4 club
Hiya, just got back from more track searching (someone's gotta do it ahh). All event details are at www.whangamata4x4.org. The tour de Whanga and teams tour de Whanga are both 2014 events. All events are ok for rego & wof cars with the nov event more suited to the family 4x4 loaded with the family and the Tour de events are targeted at the slightly modified or set up family truck. My mitsi challenger is slightly lifted and on very good coopers tyres and will be doing all 3 events (expecting a lot of winching in the teams event
). The teams event will have tracks really testing your wof/rego truck (mainly with climbs and slippery tracks) and will include several tracks that most wof/rego trucks will not do and suited to the tough trucks in your team (gotta give those boys something tough to do ahh), we have several in our club and they are planning on some real fun. You need to be prepared for a little 4x4 pin stripping on both Tour de events. We are hoping the Tour de events will become must do's for all 4x4 people. I will try and post a few pic to show the tracks for the Tour de events...

Re: Whangamata 4x4 club
Can we enter our tough trucks that have no wof or reg in your teams event
Re: Whangamata 4x4 club
Yep, we are keen for at least one tough truck per team. No rego or wof required. We will try and get you guys into some nice tracks. Not just mud but challenging bush track driving. How the heck do I resize pics from my iphone so I can show you guys some of the stuff we have in mind??? and can i send direct from my iphone to this site?
Technology challenged... sorry

Re: Whangamata 4x4 club
Hi everyone... just a quick update for our Nov event. We have been out searching tracks for the last couple of months (hard I know but someone has to do it ahh
). We have heaps of great tracks sorted with nice high vantage/view points for lunch, and we now have a really fun forested hill area that has several track options, some great climbs and a couple of rather wet areas just for fun. This has both technical and simple tracks that will offer all vehicles a challenge to suit your abilities on the day. We are hoping to make this area a bit of a full time play area, as it has heaps of options and is just a great drive.
We are already half full, so if you are thinking about joining the Nov event get in quick... All details are on www.whangamata4x4.org
Cheers Brendon

Approx 10-12 kms north of Whangamata.
Re: Whangamata 4x4 club
If you have a look at the forest area behind Opoutere out to the main road and also have a look at the area on the right side of the peninsular heading out to Onemana. The Onemana area is where we have found several tracks that are just bloody great fun in either direction and we will be spending a good bit of time in that area just having fun. It has a technical aspect as well as two great hill climbs with a fun bog area. Nothing to damage the vehicles, just more a challenge of the drivers. We can guarantee several low range 4x4 areas and at least one or maybe two areas where we will offer an easy route or for those that must, there will be a challenging route. We listened to last years feed back and we have a better mix of forest roads and 4x4 tracks to suit all levels this year.

Re: Whangamata 4x4 club
Are there any places left?
Re: Whangamata 4x4 club
Yep we still have plenty of room. For anyone in the Auckland, Tauranga, hamilton area... this will be worth the trip. We have some great tracks to play on this year. A lot more off road tracks (as requested from last year) and a really fun up hill/down hill play area that might put one or two to the test
as well as a great lunch menu from the wonderful ladies at our local Playcentre (our charity for this year)
Now who can organise a little rain for friday, with sunshine on Saturday please.

Re: Whangamata 4x4 club
Gidday... just a quick event update. We have now secured a purpose built 4x4 track for a bit of fun and games at the conclusion of our event next weekend 16th Nov. The area will challenge all levels of 4wd so bring ya cameras. There is one bog in here that has never been driven out off:shock: but it also has 4-5 other tracks at a level to suit from clean to well used
The area will be open to any event vehicles that want to have a go. We still have spots left so late entries are welcome
