Nissan Variable Vane Turbo

Bought this a while a go without knowing anything about turbos and have since realised it won't suit my intended application. From the research I have done I have found that the the vane actuator is vacumn operated. This type of turbo has the ability to create boost at much lower RPM than a normal turbo and they are capable of decent boost pressure as well so could be a good project for someone to come up with a controller for it?
$150 or near offer, or could be interested in swaps for something.

Proabably off a ZD30 I'd say, unless the last of the TD27ETi's ran the VNT turbo as well?
I guarantee mine will blow up as soon as you've sold it

zukmiester: you do know you can use a relatively cheap valve called a Dawes valve to actuate it using boost? You could possibly still use it, although I'm sure you've looked all this up already. Thats what the nissan guys are using to take the turbo control away from the ECU

Yes it is off a ZD30, hadn't heard of the dawes valve I will do some research on it this turbo might end up on my truck yet

Look up dawes valve zd30. Lots of people do it to take boost control away from the ECU, since the ECU doesnt have a boost sensor it doesn't actually know what the heck boost its running lol.
I think guy in oz makes them about $30 from memory, works kindof like a boost controller, vac in, controlled vac out, and boost reference in.

dawes valve is basically a one way valve. like a ball/spring boost controller without the bleed hole. you can make one yourself if you can find the bits.

not sure how much vacuum you need to run the turbo actuator.
one thing to watch the vac system is a little slow to run the turbo. so if you fit it to a bit to big engine you may boost spike badly or even have run away boost.
