7th & 8th September

Post by Filthy4x4 »

Been a while since i've started one of these...

Had a good day out playing in a mates paddock today, my poor truck took a beating though

He got stuck and I went around to recover him and ended up with 2 stuck trucks, a torn stem on a tube, damaged sills, damaged panels...

Oh well all part of the fun

So why did the tow strop break? Was it old or unrated....
How did you join it?
Need to be soooo careful...

Well watched the All Blacks Play but they didn't really play there A game was still good though. :D

Using a a stick or magazine in between were you join them works every time and makes it easy to pull back apart 8)
cause sometimes thats a mission on its own

just fixed the navara this week.
got the alternator back from sparky. one new one way clutch and bearings. cost about half the price of a new alternator
replaced the bearing in the tensioner pulley. couldn't find the same sized bearing so went with a slightly skinnier one and pressed it in with a dab of bearing loctite. used a washer to pack it out the difference. $8 bearing vers $150 new pulley, we will see how it goes.

replaced split intake and bulging water hoses.

still need to find oil filter housing.

Haven't had much off road action what with the playdoh in bits... :( Welded up the hole for the sun roof....Just a few more weld runs and it will be ready for a grind up and bog...
Then need to think about what to pack for Guavas later in the month....

Swapped passenger door on double cab for the surf one I bought a while ago a bit early as 2 very charming children in the early hours of Saturday morning smashed my window in and robbed tools, cds and an exide battery from my ute. They are under the age of 15 so...no consequences for the little bastards, plus parents don't want to know anything about it and neither do the cops. So after removing both front seats after work yesterday and vacuuming the ute out (something I had been meaning to do since I got it, silver lining and all that shit  ) replacing seats and swapping the door, I also have a farked vacuum cleaner haha but on the upside, I should be getting my next light bar within the next couple of hours 8)

Won't be long before it'll look like T2

Went to Possum Palace to clean truck and find a drive train noise. A few things followed me home for some TLC.
Radiator looked like this from the front.......

Not too be bad, huh? But then flip it over......

It was only cleaned a month and a half ago

Pulled rear diff head and threw it in the trailer for a close inspection. I think after 3 years and 2 trucks the Chinese diff lock my be a bit thrashed  Some bits inside may have been slung off and run through the crown and pinion :(

Succeeded in doing nothing on Saturday. Went out to the old mans today to drop some stuff off and then decided that the 4wd lever hadn't been used in over a week

Three years and still going strong  They're Hella Duraled's, we use them on the log trucks as it takes a lot to break them.
