 last time we were out he jumped in with me and said "don't tell Dad, but I feel safer in here"
I think the bars around the cab give the boy the illusion of safety, and of course i've never fallen over

Went for a little play on Friday night. about a km into it we heard a not so nice sound coming from the rear diff. Seems I missed a chunk of broken axle. It picked up on the crown wheel and did this.......

Image

Pulled it apart on Sat morning. No real damage other than the cover, so I slapped a new cover on it, filled it with new oil and drove it up the Waipara river to the gorge. Didnt miss a beat. Gets abit deep up there, so we turned around and came out at stringers bridge and back home down the road. Its awesome haveing the Waipara in my back yard

This was the end of the road..........

Why don't you guys run 24 volt stereos? I know there are limited options but does it need to be a mega fancy unit?

When I caved into the need for tunes I had a sweet transformer which had given many years of faultless service......... Had
And the head unit I got was $80 from repco   Works for me

Can't fault that logic. :D
I have seen heaps of threads and comments on ORE regarding reducers and 12 problems re the Safaris and stereos, and always wondered why not just throw in a 24 volt stereo and be done.

when replacing your reducer be careful, now days radios pull the main power from the permanent (memory) wire, a lot of reducers are still designed for the old system of the permanent just being a trickle feed form the memory and provides the main power down the acc wire.

In short they don't have the stones to run a radio wired up the way they tell you to, you can wire them up backwards but they will use more power when not in use and flatten batteries.
