LN65 2L-TE Conversion

Post by gutless lux »

Hi all my 2l in my hilux has blowen the crank seal so insted of fixing it i am thinking of an upgrade. Iv found a 2l-te for 600 with no injector pump or alt, was thinking of using the injector pump off my current motor any ideas if it will work or even bolt up at all? The motor is out of a surf so i imagine it will just bolt straight in? Im a newby to Toyota's after recently migrating over from Isuzu and an sick of throwing money at this 2l just for something else to die on it.

better option would be to get a re-conned 3L.

Injector pump off the turbo engine will have the boost compensator, whereas your N/A one will not have it. Doesn't mean you can't use it. It will just pump the diesel at the same rate when on/off boost. May be quite smoky when starting to drive off if you wind the fuel up to suit when on boost.

Yes it will work, all the l series pumps are interchangeable. Not sure how well a 2l pump will stand up to a turbo though, may not flow enough fuel but i could be wrong

I think you abit mixed up there the 2l-te doesn't have a compensator, its efi and controlled by the ecu.

Its the 2l-t that has the manual pump with boost compensator

so a 2l-t pump would be the way to go?
would the motor run rich when not on boost if the n/a pump was turned up to compensate?
Sorry for all the questions im new to desils lol

ideally yeah you would want a 2lt.pump, the tops of them are interchangeable so you could get the compensator from the 2lt and put it on your pump, only thing I'm not really sure about is if the 2l pump pump will flow enough(it's not a big thing as you can't lean out diesel like a petrol and cause damage it will just go slower). I'm not sure if the pump is different in that regard

and yes Merths answered your other question above

i would just fit the 2l pump and wind it up a tad.
just have to adjust your driving style so you don't put the boot hard into it from a stand still. when your driving around your on enough boost that a boost comp doesn't matter so much.

then you can save up for a much better engine.

basically the same as surf engine.
there is also a performance version in some of the cars called a 2lt-he. rather rare.
but even the standard 2lt is a good deal. just be careful you don't get a 2lt-1. they are different to a 2lt-2 and 2lt-e.

only thing I can think of is the sump might be different as crown is rwd? and your 2l sump won't have the drain for the turbo.

good point, i don't know if the the car is front or rear sump. but turbo drain is in the block not the sump. at worse its just a sump swap.

btw i'm assuming here that the original 2l is a 2l-2 not a 2l-1. 2l-1 has roller cam and different head. i'm not 100% on swapping a 2l-1 to a 2l-2.
