diesel Mechanic

Post by coldchilli »

Hi guys, I have got a 94 2.8TD Pajero. I suspect that I have got a leak with the head gasket. I bled the cooling system this weekend and found that there were small bubbles (like foam) at the neck of the radiator. Does anyone know a reliable mechanic on the north shore to check this for me and that would fix if this is the case.

These guys know their stuff. But not the cheapest. Would be good to get a diagnosis from them.

Thanks for the help, Alltech referred me to a place on Barrys point road. The guy that I spoke to was fantastic and straight up. Short conversion and he told me the issue. Seems like the head need replacing.

There was a guy on Trade Me that was doing head replacements at a very good rate. I know cheep is not always best, but might be worth having a chat to him and find out what history he has. sorry i dont have his link anymore but he has a "services" add on trademe specialising in heads and diesel pumps.

I think this is the one. From memory he was gonna do a head for me and re-seal the diesel pump for $1200. best to give him a call and get some history from him.

Taking the car in today for the repairs, will let you all know how it went, including the service received and work done.

Got the car back after 3 days as they had to order a new water pipe from Wellywood. Car has been going like a dream. All that needs to be done is flush the water system. I can say that the service I got was great.

The mechanic showed me the old head and the thing looked like a spider web with all the cracks.

Got to love old cars.......
