Broken aerial - Best replacement.

Post by Militaris »

My Toyota surf aerial recently broke off, due to be hit by to many branches. What would be the best thing to do with regards to replacing it. I often listen to the radio, but now it is mostly static. I would hate to put a new Toyota retractable aerial on just for it to get bent/broken again.

Any suggestions. Are there any aerial options which would prove to be longer lasting then the standard ones?

you could go to supercheap and buy one that has a spring at the
bottom or a rubber masted one.....

I've got one of those little stubby rubber ones on my truck, it seems to take the knocks from the vegetation ok. The only thing you have to watch is the vibration unscrews them from the base, a bit of loctite fixes that when you buy the replacement one for the one you lost :?

if you laazy like me, just by an electric aerial and put a switch inline from the wire coming out of the stereo( normally blue wire). this way when you go 4wding just flick the switch and the aerial will go down outa harms way and you can still listen to the radio.
