Which Pyrometer?
Re: Which Pyrometer?
Had another Auberins gauge fitted today. This one does the water temp. Had a light/buzzer fitted beside the hazard switch as well. Stoked.

Yep.
Was mounted next to the cylinder head, at the hotest point of the water leaving the motor.
Works real well.
Seems to run at around 79 celsius.
Towing up a hill will be interesting. Haven't done that since it was installed.
But I have with the EGT gauge. The hottest that's got towing up a hill was 670 celsius.

Re: Which Pyrometer?
Hi Pete,
i'm going to order one of these for my cruiser as well as a water temp one, just one question, you mentioned in the thread you got another one to monitor water temp, just wondering which sender you used for that in your old 80?
This one? http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_ ... cts_id=134
cheers

Auberins will be doing well with us in NZ this month...
I have just ordered a Boost gauge (green display) and another for water temp (blue display)
I already have an aftermarket gauge with sender so the plan is to use the same sender unit... According to Auberins their guages work with lots of different inputs... So will give it a go...
Overall plan is to go digital as you can set trigger / alarm points and also there is an output to drive a relay to turn on the fan !!

The one meter / display unit will work with a number of inputs but the inputs ,may share the same terminals on the back - You will have to install a few switchs to get this to work.
Then you also need to program the unit to take the signal, which takes a few minutes. So if you are wanting to measure your boost exhaust / water/ oil /auto temps you are realistaccly going to have to rice it out with a few gauges as its unpractical to use the one

Re: Which Pyrometer?
you can program the aurbins gauge to accept different senders. catch is knowing what the sender is in the first place.

Re: Which Pyrometer?
What shipping option have people been using? The first order I put through was an egt gauge which took about 10 days to turn up. A few months later I ordered a boost gauge which was sent the day after I ordered it. Both times I used the cheapest shipping option.
The latest order has now been 7 weeks and has not turned up. Aurbins have been really good. They have offered to send a new one to me with the condition that if the first one turns up I let them know so they can arrange to send it back. This time I paid extra (about $50) to use fedex. Tracking says it's now between chch and my place.

Re: Which Pyrometer?
I have just used the cheap $20 USD via International Mail...
Order took about 10 days to get here....Normally shipped the next day from Aubins. And arrives in the mail...

I just purchased another gauge from Aubriens for the water temp, just have to install it now, I used Fedex option and was at my door within 3 days I had to pay extra but it worth it.
