Finally all finished rebuilt the 13B-T and the gearbix new syncro's and and new bearings and a new shaft one was a little worn.
Got RED back last Tuesday it arrived at work in the tow truck and I put Blue (1KZ) on the tow truck to get new BRAKES and new trailing arm bushes. The newly rebuilt 13B-T ready I was told to drive it carefully and test it out do not go over 2100rpm and check the noise.
Red was not happy it started tapping noise at 2000rpm. THis morning (Saturday) took out to the workshop and we fixed the Blue 1KZ nightmare up after the Quiet Sungai Mas trail trip last weekend.
1. New trailing arm bushes
2. New leading arm bushes and castor correction also
3. Straightned steering arm
4. Drained DIFFS (yes they had water in them) and refilled
5. CHanged SUMP (took me 2+ hours to change) as the 1KZ engine in BLUE was from a HIACE and the front PROP shaft had given it more than a FEW WHACKS almost through the sump the damage was quite bad. BE warned anyone who puts in a HIACE 1KZ change the sump or remove the front PROP shaft LOL.
6. Refilled and ready to rock again.
7. After lunch started stripping REDs 13B-T down slowly stripped around the head and finally lifted it. BINGO we could see the noise reason. YEs the valves had touched the pistons on pistons 1 and 4 mainly. WE measured the head gasket and the old one was 1.65mm and the new one was 1.35mm. Monday we will know what we can buy here to provide a solution.
Pictures of the damage
Two of us dismantling the engine.
