Am importing a Eaton TrueTrac LSD

Post by BlakeNZ »

Sea freight will cost around $60-70,from USA. allow 4-6 weeks. Let me know if you want something similar, they can travel together. Have a look on websites like http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com for prices etc.

i'm getting mine from USA, it appears that ironman in Australia is the best source for hilux e lockers. $1600AUD is expensive. Add freight, Import duties of 15% . and it appears that pre 88 hilux diffs need the larger later side bearings for the unit to fit.

Hey I'm wanting to import either a Eaton Truetrac or a Powertrax No-slip from the states soon too, just need to decide which one for the rear of my 130 surf since I'm having traction problems even on road since doing up the 1kz... Have a look at this site too..

http://www.summitracing.com/search?keyword=truetrac

they give good shipping and import tax options, looks like $120 for air freight but you'd have it in about a week.

I've gone with the truetrac 913A610 for the rear of my surf. Through Lowrange($424USD). Ocean shipping has been revised to $40 for me(coming through an importer bringing other stuff in.)

Yea I see now Lowrange are considerably cheaper. Is there import duty tax to pay on top of that? I think the truetrac 913a610 might be the go for me too... for now, and then move it to the front and put no-slip in the rear if/when it get sas'd. Blake, have you done the order already?

Only extra might be GST on the cost of the goods plus freight if it coming to over $50.
They dont always charge you as cant check everything thats comes over border.

Just had a read of the customs website.

Once the threshold of $60 of duty and/or GST payable is reached, then an import entry transaction fee (IETF) of NZ$46.89 (GST inclusive) is also payable. This includes the Ministry for Primary Industries biosecurity system entry levy of $17.63 (GST inclusive).

Follow the link to there calculator so can work out how much youll get stung for.

Just an update here on the Eaton Truetrac LSD. I had it installed, by Geartech here in Palmy North. The "ute with a roof"(Surf) is much more capable now, and if it spins rear wheels, there is always a pair of skids:) It seems pretty seamless in its operation. The time you can notice it most is if , for instance, you do a Uturn, using the grass verges. you can feel it locking and unlocking as it crosses the various surfaces.
So far, it seems to be good option for my daily driving and farm usage, without having to change my driving style.
