anyone interested ??
I was keen - until my wife kindly reminded me that its my daughters 3rd birthday on the saturday... dammit... I love 4WDing, but I can't miss her birthday...
Any other long weekend away I'd be interested... although a few local day-trips may be in order to fully test HiMuZu before its let loose on long trips...
Steve
PS: It gets better... apparently the in-laws are making a special trip to stay for the whole weekend

don't do the coast. The Canterbury Landrover club is going over there plus a heap of other people I know. There is not much in the way of accomodation left anyway: I've checked. I am putting a trip together to go either down to Twizel area IE: Dobson and Hopkins rivers ( access fee charge) or back down to Cromwell, do some more of the Old Man Range, Dunstan mountains etc. Let me know if you are interested Padero.

Have decided to head down Cromwell way and yes there is plenty of mud down there. I am yet to work out the final details will let you know by the end of the week. Will probably base ourselves in Bannockburn, know a good camp ground there. Just checking, you do have rated tow hooks and recovery gear don't you.

Have you spoken to Cromwell Alistair???? He would be interested and probably have some ideas... There are a few club trips around central then too...
I'd be interested in a trip too.... Have been looking to do some stuff around Glenhorchy....
I'll be living in Queenstown by then, but will still have the same mobile number...
Still not sure whats going on this weekend tho, as I still don't have anywhere to live as of Friday

Hey Guys,
if you are coming on this trip and have snow chains, bring them along just in case. Weather is looking a little grim for some of it.

Excellent trip guys. Lots of laughs, mud, breakages and occansional wet feet
They were the first pics I took honest Al!
On the way home I've managed to blow a main seal letting oil into the bell housing.
So it seems no one got off light this weekend except maybe the red fire truck and robby.

Hi all,
Collapsed rear wheel bearing the problem.
Made it home today after finding the wrecker at his yard on easter monday in cromwell, managed to scavenge a good wheel bearing and collar off a hiace axle, and the local garage owner let me use his press!!
Had the job done by early mon afternoon and all up cost me $40, not bad!
Excellent weekend, kids had a ball, all up A-1, see you all next time

Nice going. So I guess the front was alright then? as thats the one you were dealing to when we left. When do you think the rear went? or was it just on the way from the camp to cromwell?
I've gotta drop the transfer, gearbox tomorrow night and get at this seal. While its all down I might have a crack at putting in a switch to manually lock the tourqe converter and stop some of the heat build up. Quite popular mod in OZ

easter trip
Well guys, the nissan made it home no worries. Got to Tekapo and got several comments from tourists about the mud- just jealous. Truck is now dry, pulled all the seats apart and dried them in front of the fire yesterday. Will be replacing all the fluids this afternoon after work, I just hope I haven't blown any oil serals on the gearbox as there was significant fluid coming from somewhere ? the breather and just dropping down. Underside is now rustproofed. The pictures tell a story don't they. Had a great time despite the water bath in Dip creek of all place namers.

yeah Mike front end was fine, but after testing still had a knocking noise.
Jacked up the rear end and put truck into gear, the whole back end would shake every time the rear turned and it appeared to be coming from the diff, pulled out diff and all appeared fine so on closer inspection of the rear wheel bearings found one to be all but fallen to pieces!!
anyway I can tell you Hiace ones are the same
Had the truck together by about 3pm on Monday so took Kath and the boys out for tea and had a easy night then home on Tuesday.
