VX power steer reservoir leak

Post by lilpigzuk »

Afternoon

Been asked to ask the question, not really interested as I don't own one  but apparently a common fault? Is there a fix other than buying genuine yota ones?

Yes it is quite common due to vibration as it is mounted directly to the inlet manifold. Seem to crack around the brackets.
Should either rubber mount or onto the body somewhere.

Knead-it (or similar) putty does a good job of patching it up.

Mine used to pump the fluid out the top. Solved it by cleaning out the filter mesh on the inside of the reservoir

There is also a manufacturing fault with some of them, where by the top isn't crimped properly and leaks, easiest way to fix is to replace it :-)

yeah they leak where the top is crimped onto the main body of it, I swapped mine to a plastic one off another car, problem solved
